The Los Angeles Times has published a long story providing details about the baby that died after a circumcision on February 27, 2024. As we previously reported, the baby died the day after its birth in a “negligent and preventable” death that followed complications the newborn suffered from the circumcision and then a medically contraindicated administration by the physician of Demerol. After the baby went home, the doctor wrongly reassured the parents that the baby was fine despite their observing that he skipped feedings and seemed “lethargic and was unusually non-responsive.” The parents have filed civil charges of wrongful death against the physician and other responsible parties.
